"An unrivalled drive": this was how Citroën publicised the merits of its flagship vehicle. This claim remains valid: the model known as " the 15 " is capable of matching vehicles of more prestigious marques, with its superior road-going qualities. Presented four years after the launch of the Traction, this top of the range version boasts a 2. 8-litre six-cylinder engine enhancing its performance. It also benefits from a more luxurious interior.
The car on offer was first registered on 14 January 1949. It was registered in Ain when it became a part of the André Lurton collection in 2002. It had benefited from a restoration: the sober black bodywork livery is complemented by Robri fender spats; the upholstery had been redone in cloth. For the dashboard, a water temperature gauge has been judiciously added, while the electrical equipment still retains its original 6 volts arrangement. At that time, we had noted the absence of a manufacturer's plate. It was when this collection was auctioned by Artcurial in September 2020 that its current owner acquired the car. The "15" has since benefited, in 2021, from a mechanical overhaul worth more than ?8, 000 which involved the replacing of all the fluids, cleaning the fuel tank including the replacement of the hoses and the filter, repairing the dynamo, regulator and starter, overhauling of the ignition, fitting a new exhaust manifold, as well as tightening the front wheel bearings. A true representation of the French automotive landscape, this Traction Avant guarantees enthusiastic encounters and signs of affection wherever you may be driving around.
