In the early 2000s, English singer-songwriter and musician Rob Dickinson (cousin of Iron Maiden's lead singer) was looking to restore his Porsche 964, while wanting to redefine the model by upgrading it with modern technologies and giving it an old 911 look from the 1960s/ 1970s. Although a musician, Rob had studied automotive design and decided to lead the project. The chassis was then lightened, the engine reworked and the finish reinvented. The car did not take long to make people envious and this is when he created Singer Vehicle Design in 2008, which quickly became a real success.
Over the years, Singer has become one of the stars of this "restomod" trend (restoration-modernisation) by literally applying its "Everything is important" motto, bringing a perfect finish and unique precision to its creations. Engine-wise, they are fully serviced, rebored and develop 300, 360 or 400 hp, and even more for some special orders and then reassembled new by Ed Pink Racing or Cosworth engineers, specialist motorsport partners. The waiting list is today three years from order to delivery; and the price varies between USD800, 000 and more than two million, depending on the engine, finish and model which are all named after a different city.
Finding a Singer on the market nowadays is not easy, even more so if it's one coming out straight away from the factory without having to wait three years! This particular Singer was baptised as "Biarritz" from order CA04201 and the list of options on this car is long: External fuel filler caps with safety (as well as for the oil filling), 4. 0L engine, adjustable system of Ohlins Sport suspensions, high-performance Brembo brakes, carbon seats, full paint protection film plus numerous interior and exterior finishes, such as nickel-finished letters and other details.
The 964 used for this transformation at Singer was acquired in Holland in July 2019 before being shipped to Singer in California for the complete restomod.
The car was delivered in April 2023 and its owner has not driven it much since its delivery, as its odometer was only showing 1, 000 km since leaving the Singer workshop. It is therefore in pretty much the same condition that when it left the Singer factory in its green finish, orange leather interior and beige carpets, skilfully combining sportiness, elegance and comfort. Registered with a Porsche 964 French title et fitted with the largest engine offered by the manufacturer, this Singer is ready to turn heads on every single outing! An extremely rare opportunity.
