In 1980 Alfa Romeo commissioned Italian fashion designer Valentino Garavani to apply his advanced sense of aesthetics onto Alfasud’s cosmetics. In turn he chose a rare shade of Bronze metallic for the body topped by a black vinyl covered roof and a Oro gold shade for the steel wheels to match the gold Valentino side stripes. A black soft velour with gold piping was select to trim the seats, a wooden steering wheel to match the wooden door card stripes and brown carpets. Styled mainly for Italian customers, the Valentino Edition was produced almost exclusively in 4-door hatchback and 1. 2lt 68bhp and 5-speed specifications.
The Valentino offered was produced in 1980 to be acquired by a member of the Italian consulate in Athens. Discovered with only 53000 km in a preserved rust-free state, this unmatched survivor benefits from a recent total respray in the original Bronzo Metallizzato, a preservation treatment of the original interior and a full mechanical service that included a total overhaul of the engine. It is now offered in immaculate mechanical and cosmetic condition throughout.
