Description
Built on 9th March 1955 this late BN1 is an incredibly highly specified example with a whole host of high performance and ultimate road upgrades making it far in excess of the coveted 100M specification and absolutely joyous to drive. The car was restored in 2002 with the engine rebuilt in 2005 and the 4-speed overdrive gearbox rebuilt in 2002.
On the outside the Healey is handsomely finished in Silver with Black duotone paint, Aluminium Silver 72-spoke centre lock wire wheels wearing Avon ZZ tyres, a rare steel louvred 100M bonnet, 100M leather bonnet strap and polished windscreen pillars. This M+ spec 100 has a purposeful look which is further enforced by a removable roll cage which is included with the sale.
Inside this Healey has clearly been lavished with special attention with a bespoke trimmed diamond quilted gearbox tunnel in Black with contrast Red stitch, Black leather seating with Red piping, Black carpet set with Red edge binding and a satin Black dash for some glare-free sporting purpose.
Mechanically the specification of this Healey is superb, the engine is incredibly strong with far more performance than a factory 100M car, handling to match thanks to a 100M front anti-roll bar, wider wheels with grippy Avon tyres, polybushed suspension, uprated Denis Welch springs, additional rear chassis bracing all deployed through a later 4-speed overdrive gearbox and the lightweight early rear axle as used in the 100S. In 2024 we have replaced the rear shock absorbers, replaced the master cylinder, rear drums, installed new rear half shaft oil seals, given the engine a service, replaced the battery.
The car has a large history file including build specs, photos and some memorabilia. Sold with new MOT and just serviced by us.
