Description

The Austin Healey 100/ 4 BN1 is offered for sale in an elegant and sporty configuration, with its grey non-metallic paintwork and its grey and navy interior.

The large Healey, designed by Gerry Coker, rarely leaves one indifferent, and it is by far the first series that seduces us with the charm of this mythical British roadster.

The three-speed gearbox, the folding windscreen and the colossal grille transport us to another era. In 2012 the car was imported from the USA by its French owner, who now wishes to sell it. The model we are presenting here underwent a full restoration between 2015 and 2020.

A folder contains numerous invoices and photos of the restoration. The mechanics were thoroughly overhauled, including, among other things:

- Re-boring and lining of the block
- Insertion of forged pistons
- Crankshaft
- Grinding of seats and valves
- Surface treatment of block and cylinder head
- Replacing bearing shells
- H6 rebuild carburettors
- Aluminium tank
- Le Mans intake manifold
- Le Mans air box
- Facet fuel pump
- Ignition overhaul
- Replacing the clutch
- Light flywheel
The engine, barely run-in, starts easily, with no noise or smoke and develops its full power.

The 100M kit adds 20 extra bhp and 110 bhp compared with the original 90 bhp, all with a mesmerising sound that guarantees goosebumps!

The suspension is precise, the brakes were completely renewed in 2020 and are utterly efficient and balanced. The underbody is as well-presented as the exterior, and the restoration was performed to the highest standards, not on a shoestring.

In August 2019 the car’s bodyshell received a complete repaint and treatment of all areas that required it; the floors were also replaced. The windscreen was replaced at the same time to ensure good visibility. The upholstery is excellent, the carpets were bespoke-made from velour, fitted around a pre-installed double insulation. The boot was also clad at the same time.

The dashboard is painted to match the body colour and the aluminium around the instruments has been cut out.

The wheels were black powder-coated and the chrome parts are in very good condition and shine perfectly. The steering wheel has been replaced with a wooden wheel, giving the vehicle a distinct British touch.

The car comes with a hardtop and a Alpaca hood, both navy blue, as well as a set of side screens. French registration as a collectible, delivery within Europe possible, warranty up to 36 months possible. Given the condition and cost of this car we ask for €67, 990.
