I believe these machines can be restricted for license purposes.
I bought this to use myself but being honest it is the newest bike I have ever owned by a good margin and I am not sure it is really me. That said it is a lovely machine and 22 years old!
A first generation SV650 S Vee Twin in my opinion the best looking but also easy for home maintenance having carburettors and not ECU/ fuel injection.
They have a fantastic reputation as a well balanced, nimble machine having excellent reliabilty. No cambelts to worry about either!
This silver bike is in superb condition with no dents or broken plastics noticed, the paintwork is virtually unmarked with only the tiniest of marks here and there but nothing glaring out.
The frame paint is in good order as are the wheels, it all looks to be original paint evidencing a relatively sheltered life.
Plenty of work done, not evidenced by bills but previous owners comments and adverts.
Just had fresh oil and filter by me.
In March 2023 about 4000 miles ago it had chain and sprockets.,
600 miles before that it had front forks rebuilt, new seals and heavier 15 fork oil, front callipers rebuilt, new pads, discs. Rear suspension link overhauled. New rear wheel bearing and carrier bearing plus carbs stripped, cleaned and overhauled.
It has matching Pirelli tyres, the rear barely worn but the front is down to between 2 and 3mm so some life yet but advised on mot too.
Before that it had valve shims done, headstock bearings, new clutch plates and cable plus, master cylinder overhaul and iridium plugs.
There are also useful extras/ improvements. Braided brake hoses, upgraded discs, upgraded regulator, full stainless front to back Scorpion exhaust system which looks great and sounds lovely without being too obtrusive.
There are a lovely set of adjustable after market rearsets which for a tall chap like me make it more comfortable plus a greatly improved pyrimid screen. Also having a better rear hugger and tank protector plus a rear seat and rear seat replacement tail piece if preferred.
The lower fairing panels are also not a standard “S” feature although I was told they are a genuine Suzuki extra..... I do not know but certainly they look good even with matching black trim parts on them.
The battery is an AGM one and seems strong too.
It starts on the button hot, cold and any weather and rides really well. The brakes are strong and it is very smooth as it should be with all the maintenance it has had lavished on it and relatively low miles. My MOT man did comment it is a lovely condition bike and obviously well cared for.
Not to be confused with the many machines needing works or having obvious faults it is offered at a mid range price for a “curvy” SV650S and has plenty of extras too.
Summing it up, a really very smart and well sorted SV650S, the early model is getting a strong following for simpler machines and this one has a host of super extras which would cost a lot to replace/ source.
Two keys and handbook present too along with the original rear sets/ pegs.
Revival motors is a very part time business which deals in classic cars and motorcycles of a type I like…………. turning a hobby into a very part time vocation I actually enjoy for 30 odd years. I am always happy to discuss my vehicles which usually I have used and will always point out any known faults, issues or areas that could be improved.
