We have a stylish example of a Wolseley 16/ 60 in fine order now ready for sale. The Wolseley 16/ 60 was the high-end 1960s Farina family saloon, offered in this vibrant blue and cream two tone colour combination.
As can be seen from the photos, the bodywork is in well-nigh immaculate order, with sharp, rust-free arches and sills all round. The blue leather interior is similarly superb, with spotless dashboard and roof lining completing the picture.
The car’s boot-space is quite ample for a family picnic, rugs and all, with plenty of room inside as well, without rear passengers feeling at all cramped.
The engine is the trusty four-cylinder 1622cc B-Series so beloved in its day, and documented as capable of 79mph in the 16/ 60. It is paired with a wonderfully smooth four speed gearbox which delivers timely and trouble-free gear changes. The driving experience of this particular 16/ 60 is absolutely first-rate, very smooth and solid-feeling. A very well maintained example without doubt.
The rock solid underside of the vehicle strongly suggests the car has spent most – if not all – of its half-century garaged, and will reassure any buyer of many reliable years to come. All the more amazing when you consider that man still hadn’t been to the moon when this car rolled out of the factory!
This is a quite marvellous car that stands out in very many respects, the colour combination which extends throughout the car makes it a joy to ride in, and everything about it is so fantastically honest and unpretentious, which for us at Craner Classics makes it all the more charming. No corners cut, and you can feel it in every inch of the car and every mile driven.
The car is accompanied by an extensive folder of paperwork detailing its careful maintenance over the years.
Now increasingly rare, as well as sought after, Wolseley’s come up for sale less and less nowadays, and for this reason we advise calling by phone rather than messaging to avoid disappointment.
