We are delighted to present for sale this 1981 Land Rover® Series 3, presented in the popular Mid-Grey colour scheme with Limestone Wheels & Sand Canvas.
Externally, this Series 3 has a very “stock” appearance – with all the features one would expect to find such as rear grab handles, silver head light surrounds, 750 road biased tyres, deluxe bonnet etc etc. The only really notable addition is a pair of defender style mirrors for better visibility whilst driving along – the recent canvas and bumper, alongside that lovely colour scheme really finish the look off and in our opinion make it really “pop”. It is really pleasing to find an exterior which hasn’t been messed with, and based on the reactions on our test drive route, the general public seem to like it too…. especially when considering the rarely seen mid-grey colour scheme. The bodywork is in good condition for the age also, which is nice to note and the paintwork is of a spray finish to a better standard than is normally seen at this price point, which is good to see.
On the inside, the interior continues that stock feel, with three standard front seats, along with deluxe matting to the footwells. The front benefits from a deluxe carpet set for that premium feel alongside a pair of door cards – this also aids sound deadening in the cabin too which is handy & it makes the front of this vehicle a pleasing place to sit, too. The rear is currently unfitted with the exception of a load mat to the floor area, but could house bench seats on request for £595 to bring seating to seven people including the driver.
Out on the road, a pleasing period drive is on offer, aided by the Weber Carburettor for more power over standard, and the 750 road biased tyres to give superior road holding and extra gearing, making for a more relaxed cruising experience when at speed. We really enjoy an authentic Series 3 like this – no nasty add ons or undesired frills, just Classic Land Rover® ownership as it should be. It stops just as it should too.
In summary then, if you are looking for an MOT & Tax Exempt Series 3 Land Rover® which also benefits from classic insurance, then this could be for you.
