The MP4-12C uses an F1 style one piece carbon fibre tub composite chassis and is powered by a longitudinally mounted McLaren M838T 3. 8 twin-turbocharged V8 engine, generating approximately 616BHP at 7, 500 rpm and weighing in at just 1301 KG. Power is transmitted to the wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission Seamless-Shift gearbox (SSG) manufactured by Graziano Trasmissioni. This combination propels the car from 0-60 in just 2. 8 seconds with a top speed of 215 mph.
The car makes use of Formula 1-sourced technologies such as 'brake steer', where the inside rear wheel is braking during fast cornering to reduce understeer. The suspension consists of a unique hydraulic configuration to suspend the vehicle as opposed to more traditional coil springs, dampers and anti-roll bars. What McLaren has called 'ProActive Chassis Control' providing a firmer, competent suspension setup in spirited driving and a very plush, compliant and comfortable ride when moving at slower, constant speeds.
The Spider retains the dihedral doors of the coupé and features an impressive electric retractable hard top.
This particular example is finished in special order Graphite Grey was selected by our Director and has had just three owners from new. Supplied with invoices and the original service pack complete with McLaren services at 3040 miles, 9020 miles, 11470 miles, 13554 miles and then 15304 miles. The car was then left with V Engineering during Covid at 17600 miles where it received comprehensive service work and the important cylinder head upgrade (it is well reported that standard 12C cylinder heads are prone to overheating and cracking by the exhaust valves). In late 2023/ early 2024 the car was collected and freshly MOT tested. It was subsequently purchased by us and sent to Harwoods McLaren for their inspection and service. The mileage reading now being 17, 900 although this may increase as it is the Director's toy! Just fitted with 4 x Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres.
Specification includes Meridian sound system, Sports exhaust, Stealth pack, Carbon fibre engine covers, Electric heated and Memory seats, Half Black leather/ Alcantara interior with Harissa Red stitching, Front and Rear parking sensors and the most important Nose Lift.
With this history, specification, mileage and low ownership and particularly being the last of the 12Cs, this has to be the obvious addition for any collection and must rank among the best out there.
