The MACH 1, which has been in the FORD kitchens for a long time, is a gift for Europe! History Ford's announcement that the limited edition Mach 1 version of the Mustang would be marketed in Europe came as a real surprise. The manufacturer with the blue oval has avoided taking the sexiest Mustang across the Atlantic, making it a rare gift. The Mach 1 name has been used on North American Mustangs for over 50 years. The name Mach 1 comes from the term used to designate an object moving at the speed of sound. Ford first used the Mach 1 badge on the futuristic Levacar concept, first presented in 1959. Created by Gale Helderman, who also designed the Mustang, the Levacar Mach 1 was a hovercraft floating on a cushion of air. Although the radical Levacar never came to fruition, the name Mach 1 clearly stuck in the minds of Ford's management for future use. Ford would use the Mach 1 title on a number of Mustang concepts. Although the original pony car wasn't launched until 1964, the company was already experimenting with how the Mustang might evolve. Ford was determined to transform the Mustang from a simple sports car into a more muscular machine. The low, sleek roofline foreshadowed the silhouette of the restyled 1969 Mustang, although the square headlamps would be dropped. For Mustang fans, 1969 represented a notable high point in terms of performance. In addition to the Shelby models and the new Boss 429, Ford also released the first generation of the Mustang Mach 1. Available only as a Sportsroof fastback, it featured improved suspension and a host of visual extras. This included the option of a 'Shaker bonnet', designed to feed fresh air directly to the engine. The big news was literally under the bonnet. Ford offered the 5. 8-litre (351 cubic inch) Cleveland V8 as a base option for the Mach 1, which produced 250 bhp, but could be increased to 290 bhp with the 'M-Code' option. A 320bhp 6. 4-litre (390 cubic inch) V8 was also available, but the big talking point was the infamous Cobra Jet V8. With a displacement of 7. 0 litres (428 cubic inches), this engine produced 335 bhp. It transformed the Mustang into a serious performance car and enabled the Mach 1 to set nearly 300 speed and endurance records. The Mach 1 was also used to win back-to-back SCCA Manufacturers' Road Rally Championships. Description We are offering for sale this very beautiful 1969 FORD MUSTANG SPORTSROOF MACH 1 in Candy Apple Red livery, with a black interior, as it left the factory, with just one minor detail: the 4-speed manual gearbox has been replaced by a TREMEK 5-speed manual gearbox ... excellent news for the enjoyment of this MACH 1 which has the M CODE option, i. e. the V8 - 351 ci which develops 290 HP. Originating in the United States, the Mustang has passed through Germany before being imported into France in 2021. this car has been fully restored, has received a new paint job and the bodywork shows no corrosion, as does the chassis, which is very sound. The manufacturer's plate is present and the car has the correct options as defined in the plate. A German plate has been added to meet the country's registration requirements. On start-up, the engine immediately gives the measure of its power and after a few warm-up periods, the mech gearbox immediately engages the torque and it starts off strongly. Watch out for the burns, though, as it slips quickly. What a kick if you've got a heavy foot! The Mustang is wild and with the 5-speed gearbox, it's a perfect balance of power, torque, sound and sporty driving! This is pure American motoring, not to be entrusted to just anyone. It's a very pleasant car to drive, and...
