Beautiful Dutch Corolla 1200 in original condition with 69, 835 km from 2nd owner. Complete with booklets, all keys and original warranty card. Even fitted with a Vermeulen-Hollandia sunroof. This warranty card is also still present. Bought new at the van Amersfoort garage in Laren. The service book is carefully filled in and in 1975, the Toyota was transferred to a family member, also from Laren. This owner had a collection of classic cars that were stored in a heated room. This unrestored Toyota was then geo-tectylated and spent no less than 49 years in a collection. It was used very sporadically, so the Corolla didn't see rain or brine for all those years!
This highly original KE-20 Corolla is much more than just a barn find. Thanks to heated storage, its condition is remarkably good. The exterior looks very cool and is largely still in its original paint. It's obviously got a bit of a patina, but that's no big deal after 53 years. Everything is original: the bumpers, the wheels with chrome hubcaps, all the locks, the stickers and the lockable fuel filler cap. The steel sunroof works perfectly and shows no signs of rust. I'm a fan of the sunroof, because it brings in extra air and light and you can use it a lot, because you're driving a classic car in peace anyway. The interior is completely original and typical of the Japanese 70s: simple and functional. The dashboard is complete and everything works; it really is a beautiful time capsule. The original vinyl upholstery is slightly faded on the left-hand side, but the rest of the upholstery is well preserved. The seats have adjustable backrests, fixed headrests and original lap belts, and the car was recently brought out of hibernation by two experienced Toyota mechanics and given a thorough technical service. The Corolla was inspected in the same way as a roadworthiness test, and all the technical points were checked. The mechanics were positively surprised by the condition of the Corolla, both technically and cosmetically. The car is very well preserved. They opened up the engine and replaced the pistons and seals. The original 4-cylinder engine runs like new, quiet and powerful. The gearbox, differential and clutch are original and quiet. It could not be otherwise at this mileage.
Toyota is the most reliable brand in the world, with an impressive fan base. Since the days of the Corolla, it has been the Opel Kadett's (Vauxhall) biggest competitor. Thanks to its comprehensive equipment, competitive price and low cost, the Corolla became the best-selling car in the world.
