HERE at Martin Howey Classics (Est. 27 years) we are proud to offer for sale a 1935 Wolseley Wasp. This is a very rare model indeed. Launched in April 1935, it ran for one year only with just 5800 built. This is a June, 1935 model and thus could easily be the oldest Wasp in existence. You would have to check that out.
With just six former keepers in almost 90 years, her condition can only be described as incredibly original. The old buff log book (also original) shows that the first owner - a lady driver - kept her for more than 30 years!
Now when I say original, I mean just that. This vehicle, 90-years-old in six months time, has never seen paint since it left the factory. You could argue that it might look a little dull? Well that is hardly surprising. However, her entire body has been coated/ sprayed with clear waxoyl for protection. You can remove that should you choose to and put some shine back into the delightful old girl.
She even has an MoT which runs until August and came with no advisories!
The last owner used her as a local runaround, which of course is how these antiquities ought to be used as opposed to being dry stored for most of the year.
New timing chain was fitted two years ago.
The registration is also original and transferable although, personally, I think that would be a shame. Nice number for Colin Michael Ferguson all the same.
So solid and with a super un-spoilt interior. The green leather is just lovely. She is on the button as you would imagine and you can hardly hear her idling.
These little 1069cc Wolseleys were way ahead of their time. Practically everything around them came with sidevalve engines. This wonderful little Wasp however came with an ohc engine!
A really rare find and highly usable, despite the old girl's 90 years. Would you paint her and transform this delightful Wasp into a minter? Well, each to their own and beauty is in the eye of the beholder. For my money, I would leave well alone. She has survived for almost a century while remaining untouched. Her originality is so much of her charm that I believe a modern paint finish would wipe away the car's undoubted patina. But then that is purely my opinion.

I don't sell "second hand" cars; I sell extremely old vehicles which are, in the main, motoring antiques. Viewing is always encouraged so that you can see what you are getting. Your opinion and expectations may vary from mine. Then again, you could be in total agreement as the majority of my customers have been for the past 26 years. At the moment, the youngest vehicle in stock is 33-years-old and the oldest is 90!
