Hello, I am offering for sale this 1960 Chevrolet Corvette C1 The car is located in France, at my home in the Dordogne and has French administrative documents. It is the 1619th Corvette manufactured for this vintage out of a total of 10, 261 examples. The colour combination Honduras Maroon / Ermine White / soft top white is as it left the factory and 1202 examples were produced.
Its former owner, a friend of my family, a Frenchman living in the USA for over 60 years, was for many years the manager of one of the most prestigious French restaurants in Washington DC, right next to the White House. For his retirement at the end of 2004, he bought this 2nd hand Chevrolet Corvette and gave it a very nice and expensive overhaul, wanting to have a perfect car.
The car has only had 3 owners: the details below-2004, and him, to this day. Now aged 82, he wanted to pass on his beautiful car to someone he could trust to take care of it, as he had done, and as a wink, he really wanted the car to be in France, where he comes from.
A vintage car enthusiast and collector myself, I imported this car several months ago. When I bought it in 2004, the car was in good condition, but he wanted to restore it to its former glory and had a lot of cosmetic and mechanical work carried out on it: paintwork, upholstery, soft top, clutch, flywheel, ignition, manifold, brakes, etc, etc. Like all Corvettes, the car has to be kept in good condition.
Like all Corvettes, the body is made of fibreglass, so there are no corrosion problems, and the chassis is perfectly sound. The doors, boot and bonnet open, close and adjust perfectly. The engine is a 350 CI mated to a synchronised 4-speed manual gearbox. The car has a lot of torque, is very pleasant to drive and is extremely powerful.
The odometer shows 37, 800 miles (around 66, 000 km), which would be its original mileage. There's no guarantee of this, but given the quality of the car, it's reasonable to think so, and my friend told me that he'd only driven around 7, 500 miles in 20 years. Aesthetically, the car is magnificent, with the patina of a well-restored car.
The bodywork, paintwork and chrome are in excellent condition. The chassis is sound. The upholstery is in excellent condition, as is the soft top. The tyres are almost new. The car is fitted with seat belts and an original radio. The car has recently been serviced and the battery is new.
The car starts straight away in all circumstances, its handling is perfectly sound and safe, and it's easy to drive without a care in the world. It has a lot of goodwill, and many people come up to me, always willing to come and have a look and chat about the car, which looks very smart in its original livery.
