Purchased for £225 in 1957 by the father of the current owner. This Dedion comes to us with a plethora of pictures of it as discovered & bought in 1957 running on 3 cylinders. The pictures also cover the engine rebuild & subsequent motoring over the years with 500 to 1000 miles being covered each year.
Immediately after purchase the engine was stripped down to its last bolt & a full rebuild undertaken. Right after the car did a trip to Rimini in Italy going over the St Gotthard pass en route & back. When asked why the more convenient tunnel was not taken the owner stated that he did no think the aceylene lamps were up to the job so over the top they went!!!.
The car is a lovely original thing with newer buttoned leather to the drivers seat bottom. The other leather is older, patinated & frankly all the better for it. A Boa constrictor horn comes on the car that came via a complicated trade many years ago from the London to Brigton Spyker car Genevieve of film fame.
This car is in fine mechanical fettle. It starts readily on the handle. The gear box is a 4 speed affair in the conventional H pattern & is very very easy to use with silent changes easily mastered,
The engine is a four pot unit of some 2. 3 litres & has plenty of motive force to pull the car down the road at decent speeds.
Older green paintwork & bodywork festooned in brass adds to the charm & period feel of this conveyance. The VCC issued early dating certificate number 78 in 1948. An instruction manual also comes with the car.
This is a car that is ready to be driven immediately. It runs well, oozes period charm with a well proportioned body & has proved to be utterly reliable over the years. Viewings are available by prior appointment.
