Description

The small FIAT was developed from 1933 by Dante Giacosa with the aim of ‘minimising purchase and maintenance costs’. This was achieved without the design being primitive. Produced from 1936, the small car was a huge success. Its sales designation was the Type 500, and it was affectionately known as the ‘Topolino’ (‘little mouse’). The basic modernisation to the Type 500 C took place in 1949, but the successor, the FIAT 600, did not arrive until 1955.

Our FIAT 500 Topolino is a rare right-hand drive model because it was registered in England on 11 September 1938. There is still an English V5 document from 1992, and the classic car later travelled to Greece, where it received its first FIVA Identity Card. It has been registered with the current German owner since 2013. It also has a German FIVA Identity Card and a 2016 valuation report, extensive service invoices and even an engine overhaul. The ‘little mouse’ is now waiting for an enthusiast who will continue to appreciate and drive this technical cultural asset in the future.
