Description
This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The March Timed Online Auction on Friday the 28th of March, Online. Background:
The Rover Mini hardly needs an introduction to car fans, much in the same way that Paul Smith needs no introduction to fashionistas. In 1998, the idea to combine two great British icons was born. Featuring a unique series of colours and interior trims, plus many other details all specified by Paul Smith himself, sales were fast. Given that they were limited to a mere 1, 800 units worldwide, demand has always outstripped supply. Whilst the UK received home-market cars, the rarest of all on these shores are those originally supplied in Japan, which had their own colours and crucially featured air-conditioning.
The Car:
This superb 1998 Japanese-spec Paul Smith edition has only 55, 900 miles. Spending the first ten years of its life in Japan, it was brought to the UK in 2008 and has every UK MOT to back up that mileage.
In line with many Japanese imports, where the roads are completely salt-free, it is rust-free underneath and all panels are believed to be original. Being a Japanese-spec machine, it has both air-conditioning (which blows very cold indeed) and an automatic gearbox, both very rare features. The speedo was given a new face when imported, so it now displays some DIN mph, although the odometer still shows in KMs.
The body is immaculate, as is the interior, a testament to its Japanese roots and the careful, loving care each owner has given it.
Supplied with full book pack, two keys, two alarm fobs, a fresh service, and a valid MOT until January 2026.
