Final year of the sprung hub
Supplied new by Taylor Matterson's of Balham
Conversion to 12-volt electrics
This Triumph Thunderbird has the Edward Turner-designed sprung rear hub and dates from the final year that it was available. The Triumph was supplied new by Taylor Matterson's of Balham, Southwest London and features their decal on its tool box lid. Believed restored to a very high standard in the early 1980s, the Thunderbird is believed to remain highly original in terms of its specification, only benefiting from conversion to 12-volt electrics. Currently displaying a total of 5, 007 miles on the odometer, the machine has only been used lightly in recent years and has been dry stored when not in use.
This Thunderbird was exported to Guernsey in 2022. It comes with a Guernsey Registration Certificate for '16679' and copy of its old V5C registration document for 'PXC 219'. It should be noted that Vehicle Registration Number 'PXC 219' is associated with a 2022 'Export' marker in the HPI/ DVLA database. Accordingly, prospective purchasers should satisfy themselves with regard to the validity and status of this motorcycle's registration prior to bidding. The successful purchaser is responsible for applying to the DVLA to retrieve the vehicle's registration number. It should be noted the HPI records the previous colour as black. Additional documents include a 2018 SORN confirmation; DVLA Tax reminder; and a 2022 receipt for Triumph Silencers (£199).
All lots are sold 'as is/ where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding. Visit the Bonhams website for all pertinent auction information.
