Another splendid Silver Cloud from Albion Classic Cars This is a Cloud III, the latest in a line of truly beautiful Rolls, representing the pinnacle of elegance and luxury from the famous English marque that always aimed for perfection. Their slogan? The best car in the World", no less! This car was delivered new by Broughtons of Cheltenham, the most prolific dealer after Jack Barclay, who is still in business. Its lucky first owner was the heir to a newspaper magnate whose printing presses were located in the north of the country, whereas our heir lived mainly in London but also owned a spacious rectory in the Midlands where this car was usually parked when not in use on his journeys to his Provençal villa in Gordes. This first owner was a true epicurean who appreciated beautiful things, and was a great collector of paintings and antique furniture, well known in the very closed circle of art collectors. He was not married and never had any children. When he died in 1984, he bequeathed his impressive collection, built up over the years, to various museums in the Kingdom. When he owned it, the car was meticulously maintained by the dealer. The car changed hands on 1 April 1975 at around 60, 000 miles through the same Broughtons dealership and the second owner - a property tycoon - continued to have it serviced religiously (i. e. every 6 months as recommended by the manufacturer) at the same dealership until the course of 1978 when he decided to have the vehicle serviced directly at the Crewe factory, no less! The vehicle still bears its original registration mark with the initials 'TU', which corresponds to the Crewe suffix so coveted by discerning collectors. Between January and April 1986, the second owner decided to have the car restored with new side members, wheel arches, etc. After 14 years in the hands of the second owner, the car changed hands on 15 May 1989 at around 90, 000 miles and he promptly sent it to Rolls-Royce in Crewe for a major mechanical overhaul. From then on, the car was used much more sparingly, with its last owner covering just 9, 000 miles (15, 000 kilometres) in the 36 years he owned it. Today, at the age of 96, he is reluctantly parting with it for obvious reasons, only taking it out once a month on sunny days. Nevertheless, over the 36 years, the car continued to be regularly serviced, and there are numerous invoices in the file from Flying Spares, Colbrook, P&A Wood and Ristes, a well-known specialist from whom the car underwent a major overhaul of the hydraulic braking system in 2012. Although the car is exempt from roadworthiness testing in the UK, the owner has continued to have it serviced every year as a matter of conscience. The last service and MOT was in January 2025. Unsurprisingly, our last owner wishes the car to come into the possession of an enthusiastic collector who will continue to pamper the beauty as well as its 3 previous owners. The car remains in very good overall condition, ready for new adventures. The 'sand' paintwork - an original and period colour used by Rolls and many other British cars in the 1960s (think Rover P6) - has retained a very nice sheen and the original Vaumol red leather upholstery, although pleasantly weathered, shows no tears or advanced wear. The woodwork is in good condition, as is the chrome. The car has sheepskin upholstery. The chassis and underpinnings are sound. The engine runs well, with excellent oil pressure, and the car looks capable of covering any distance. The car brakes straight and the gearbox works smoothly. As a gesture of good conscience to the future buyer, we have just had the entire braking system overhauled with new master cylinders, at a cost of nearly 3, 000 euros at a specialist dealer. The vehicle can be viewed by appointment in Mouscron on the French-Belgian border near Tourcoing, 20 minutes from Lille. Delivered with its owner's manual and an extensive file of invoices and history, the car remains in English papers, for France, it will be necessary to allow 5. 5% import VAT on the amount of the invoice (to be defined together ...) Possible delivery throughout metropolitan France and beyond at cost price by specialized carrier. We can take care of the transport...
