1992 Moto Guzzi 1000S

The first of Guzzi's trademark v-twins appeared in the late 1960s in the form of the 703cc V7, and this remarkable engine would prove exceptionally versatile, being enlarged beyond 1, 000cc and powering machines of all kinds ranging from the super-sports Le Mans to the automatic transmission Convert tourer. Introduced for 1990, the retro-styled 1000S was in effect a naked Le Mans V, while the elegant black and red livery evoked memories of the 750 S and S3 models of the mid-1970s, particularly when ordered with wire-spoked wheels. The Le Mans V engine was used initially before the need to get the 1000S to meet emissions targets saw the 1992 and 1993 models fitted with the less powerful engine of the 1000 Strada and SP III. Despite its undeniably good looks, the 1000S sold in limited numbers, only 1, 205 being made between 1990 and the final year of production in 1993.
Norman Murray purchased this 1000S in 2018 from a Mr Halamandry of Romford, Essex (purchase receipt on file). Mr Halamandry had bought the Guzzi from a Robert Smith of Glasgow, who had owned it since 2012. Accompanying paperwork includes a photocopied old V5C, current V5C, some expired MoT certificates, and a large quantity of invoices. The current odometer reading is 43, 190 miles. It should be noted that the right front indicator is partially detached and needs to be repaired. Four keys present.
