I am selling a 1971 American Karmann Ghia, restoration to be finished. After years of waiting for its bodywork. I'm throwing in the towel. As they say in the US: "my loss, your gain". It's a US model. It's 98% original because it was lucky enough not to fall into VW's lap ;-) It even has its original spare wheel and tyre! The side members need to be redone but new ones are supplied - they come from Atelier K, THE specialist for this model. The Karmann is also sold with a complete new interior (seats, carpets, doors, etc) made by Sewfine US and worth $1200. It also comes with all the rubber gaskets from West Coast Metrics (not Chinese stuff), worth over €1000 if you had to buy them in Europe.
In short, you'll have everything you need to make it, and there are several options: redo just the side members and repaint just the bottom of the car, keeping the rest in its original patina. Or repaint the whole thing. If you know how to weld, this is an excellent basis. I had a sheet metal estimate for €3000, check with your coachbuilder. In the end, you'll have a perfect car, and without the make-up that you'll find on any other "complete" Karmann under €20, 000...
The car runs quite well because I've rebuilt the brakes and steering, and the engine is in good condition. However, the side members have been opened to measure the work to be done. French registration in my name since it was imported (by me) in 2013. The price is not negotiable.
