Description
With substantial and desirable improvements over earlier iterations, this stunning example of a 1985 V8 Saloon Series 4 ‘Oscar India’ offers a sublime grand touring experience, with an essence of prestigious Aston Martin heritage and beauty for a collectors appeal. With a Very Mere Total of only 134 of ‘Oscar India’s’ ever produced from the already quaint 352 production run, only 94 were supplied with the infamous and highly desriable 'V580' Vantage Engine, utilising many notable upgrades and internal imporvments over the more common ‘Standard V8’ fitted. The 'Oscar India' offers a smoother and closed bonnet bulge and elegant ‘R Shape Bodykit’ with a front air dam, alongside a more refined and luxurious interior featuring a leather dashboard and wood veneers. This 1985 iteration featured BBS Alloy Wheels introduced in 1983, alongside the improved ‘V580’ 5, 340cc V8 Engine based on the head from the Lagonda, offered much higher mid range torque than over the previous V540.
Finished in a James Bond esque and highly desirable ‘Cumberland Grey’ over a ‘Parchment Hide’ Interior, this example was treated to a full and thorough exterior restoration as of 2015 at 40, 863 Miles, a mere 4, 477 Miles ago with a current reading of 45, 340 on the odometer. The Above mentioned alongside a full mechanical overhaul to the matching numbers engine was carried out at ‘Rikki Cann’ Aston Martin Specialists totalling upwards of a £80, 000 invoice, to include the reconditioning or replacement of near to all components, reforming this example to one of the highest possible standards. Rikki being well acquainted with ‘Mike Peach’ himself who hand built the V580 Engine in 1985, this specific restoration was fortunate enough to be overlooked by himself personally. The Interior was kept to its original, untouched specification and left to indicate some slight wear and wear over its 40 year lifespan. Still highly presentable, a retrim and slight overhaul would be advised to match the stunning mechanical and exterior condition. The Original BBS Alloy Wheels would benefit from a refurb and to be wrapped in a fresh set of rubber.
Sold and Supplied by ‘Stratton Motor Company’ in October 1985, this stunning ‘Oscar India’ has resided within within the current owners large collection since pre-restoration in February 2014, and has since been stored and flawlessly preserved in heated storage with frequent overlooking, maintenance and upkeep by his mechanic to the current day. Previous to this and purchased off the last keeper of 24 Years since 1990, this example has been cherished overseas in Spain for a portion of its lifespan.
