The Indian Company was formed in 1901 and by 1913 were the largest motorcycle manufacturer in the world, producing some 35, 000 machines
1915 saw the introduction of the 3½bhp 498cc 'Model A' and the 5bhp 684cc 'Model B'
This 'grass track' racer was built in the 1970/ 1980s by well known Indian enthusiast, Alf Tindell and ridden by Alf's son, Graham, during the 1980s and 1990s
Based on a c. 1928 Indian speedway/ grass track racing frame, still retaining its identifiable steering damper and rear mudguard brackets
Fitted with a c. 1928 direct-drive 1, 000cc Powerplus V-twin engine that suffered a cylinder issue in the 1980s. The cylinder heads were subsequently replaced by 1940s Indian Chief examples
The original barrels included in the sale
Indian forks are c. 1912, Indian clutch, a Schebler DLX carburettor and Douglas rear hub
Fitted with coil ignition and Pilgrim oil pump with original hand pump still present for 'extra oil when required'
