Description

The Jaguar E-Type is a British automobile, manufactured by Jaguar between 1961 and 1974.

Its combination of good looks, high performance, and competitive pricing established the marque as an icon of 1960s motoring.

It was initially designed and shown to the public as a rear-wheel drive grand tourer in two-seater coupe form and as convertible.

The 2+2 version with a lengthened wheelbase was released several years later.

As the first line-up of the icon car, the Series 1 E-Types are often considered the most valuable and coveted among classic car aficionados. When the Series 1 E-Type was revealed at the Geneva Motor Show in 1961, potential buyers were looking at a price tag of just over GBP2K.

One can point to a hundred things that have made the E-Type Jaguar a success from the moment it appeared: a list price that originally undercut competition from Aston Martin and Ferrari by half; performance years ahead of its time; looks that landed it in museums; and a legend that endures to the present day.

But many other cars can also offer this sort of metaphorical timelessness. The Jaguar, however, also offers a concrete, mechanical appeal that has made it not just wonderful to see, but also relevant on the road today.

Car will be sold with a twelve (12) month registration and fresh WOF if sold in New Zealand.
