The GP200 was the last of the great Lambretta scooters that rolled off of Innocenti’s production line in Milan. Produced from January 1969 until April 1971 it is said a total of only 9350 DL/ GP200’s were made. The DL200 (known as the GP200 in the UK market with battery tray) followed the SX200 and retained the engine prefix of SX200 before the serial number. There were however significant improvements to the engine over the SX including: improved crankshaft, a complete overhaul of the gearbox ratios and improved Ducati ignition. The iconic bodywork followed the trends of the day of the early 1970’s. The Bertone design was more streamlined than its predecessors with a new 22/ 2 frame and rectangular headlight.

This is a very special example that is one of only 3 ‘Supertune’ inspired restorations in a mini series by Michael Green and painted by the famous David Dickinson. One in yellow and green as featured in the book, another in white and purple and this one in Martial red with gold features. Done to the same standard as the book featured scooter although slightly different to each other, the attention to detail is the same. The vendor has guaranteed a perfectly running scooter.

This example was originally a 1970 British registered GP200 in its original Ochre paint with only 6584 miles on the speedometer. It formed the basis of the restoration done to a to a level of unique design and high quality through a number of incarnations. The first restoration in 1999 had an exhaustive list of works which is detailed and is supplied with the scooter but includes: New paintwork in red and silver, original 200cc engine rebuilt to standard specification, original Osam ignition, genuine Veglia MPH speedometer, original Giuliari seat re-upholstered in red and black leather, 12v battery charged through the system utilising a Ducati rectifier, original Ulma Nannucci leg shield toolbox and original period flyscreen, 12v trumpet horn and an electronic alarm system. In April 2013 came the new red and gold paintwork by David Dickinson and in December 2013 a comprehensive mechanical overhaul included a BGM Race Tour ceramic lined 225 cylinder and piston kit with Yamaha 110mm corned. Reworked crankshaft to match the cylinder, MB Race Tour 5 plate clutch and much more with additional works in June 2014 and March 2023. Throughout this whole period the scooter has been subject to a strict servicing schedule which is also supplied. Some paint damage occurred in an accident and the scooter was sold on. Our vendor had this repaired in recent times by David Dickinson himself at considerable cost. However now due to age he can no longer use the scooter. It is therefore priced to sell. With its detailed works and the associated book this makes for a very desirable and attractive scooter.
