Description
This is a French 1968 Mercedes 220 W114 (equivalent to the W110, W111 or W115) in exceptional condition. This classic saloon sports its original paintwork, still bright despite being 57 years old - a rarity, probably unique. The interior is also remarkably well preserved, in near-new condition. The price is slightly questionable. The family of the 1ᵉʳ owner kept it until 2010. He was passionate and very proud of this car. Legend has it that he was a butcher... and that he drove it in slippers! This Mercedes 220 was first registered in December 1968 and never left France. It has only had six owners in total. The car passed its roadworthiness test in 2023, with 107, 267 km recorded. All changes of ownership are recorded, and the vehicle has been clearly traceable since the 1980s. I bought it because it has sentimental value for me: it was my very first car, given to me by my grandfather after I got my driving licence.
So, when I found one in this condition two years ago, I didn't hesitate for a second, I reserved it immediately. This year, it has benefited from a polishing of more than 40 hours' work, carried out by a specialist, in order to sublimate the shine of its original colour, the chrome etc... and to eliminate the micro-scratches. It cost me nearly 3, 000 euros, but the result is striking. There are very few traces of serious corrosion. I reluctantly decided to sell the car, as there's another old car in my collection that rivals it in terms of use: a sublime 1973 BMW E9 30cs that I've owned for 10 years. There's absolutely nothing to be done to the vehicle. I had a major overhaul last year and paid for it professionally, and it's ready to go and make an enthusiast happy.
