Lot 377

1971 Moto Guzzi 750 Ambassador
Registration no. not UK registered
Frame no. 25777
Engine no. 25777
"The Ambassador was largely the V7 Special with American-market accessories and modifications. These included side reflectors on the mudguards, the round rear light from the 1967 V7" - Mick Walker, Moto Guzzi Twins.

This Moto Guzzi Ambassador was imported from the USA in 2023, remains mostly unrestored and comes with NOVA clearance confirming VAT and duty paid, thus enabling the purchaser to register it in the UK should he/ she so desire. Reflecting its American heritage, there is a Ghost Motorcycle Sales Corp (Port Washington, NY) dealer sticker to a side panel and a Sport Cycles Moto Guzzi sticker on the rear mudguard. The VIN plate confirms manufacture in October 1971.

Although imported in 2023, the Ambassador stood until August 2025 when the vendor cleaned the carburettors and connected a slave battery, whereupon it fired up straight away and, reportedly, sounded good (see online video). Nevertheless, recommissioning to a greater or lesser extent will be required and thus the machine is sold strictly as viewed. Currently displaying a total of 36, 570 miles on the odometer, it would seem to be an excellent candidate for either restoration or a sympathetic preservation, retaining its patina. The bike comes with manuals on a USB stick, which was completely wiped before use.

All lots are sold 'as is/ where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding. Visit the Bonhams Motorcycles Website for all pertinent auction information.
