Description
1944 German Stug lll Tank Destroyer
Built by the firm of Alkett in Berlin, in May 1944 , this is a Sturmgeschutz III ausf. G, shortened by the German army to Stug III
in everyday use. This very modern design employed a very high velocity 75mm gun in a fixed turret with traverse and elevation facilities. The whole tank moved on its tracks left or right, quicker than a tank with a rotating turret. It was also lower than any other tank (2. 2m) so that it was ideal to hide in ambush situations.
The Stug III is credited with being the highest scoring enemy tank killer, with 30, 000 Russian tanks destroyed by it in WWII.
Supplied by the Germans to their ally Finland in the war against Russia this Stug served in the Finnish army until he mid 60's. The original gun is Finnish army de activated with paperwork.
It has a bill of sale from the Finnish army and all taxes paid to its present location in southern England. It also has its original optics, gun sight etc as well as the removable side armour anti bazooka plates.
It is available for inspection at any time subject to appointment.
This tank has been on loan to the British Tank Museum in Dorset and has appeared in arena events with their Tiger tank.
The tank is a part of the owner's fleet for war movies, you will see his name on the credits of 'Saving Private Ryan' and all the big war movies.
Everything for Mr Spielberg has to be a very good example, and totally authentic.
Comes with original workshop manual and an English translation
