The Appeal
As the muscle car wars heated up, Ford introduced a range of high-performance Mustangs. The Mach 1 was the choice for those who wanted straight-line power plus decent handling, in the form of a range of suspension tweaks. The result is one of the most desirable of the ‘hi po’ ‘Stangs.
This eye-catching orange ‘69 is said by the vendor to be a genuine Mach 1 and comes to market following a comprehensive restoration. The well-documented work was completed to a high standard and included a full respray. It is a nicely detailed car with ‘shaker’ hood, side decals and Shelby alloy wheels. Inside, you’ll find a smart black interior with high back seats and a classic Mustang ‘dual cowl’ dashboard with veneers.
The restoration work included refreshing the suspension to factory specification and fitting a high-end power steering conversion that cost €2, 000.

The Mach 1 delivered similar performance to its high-power Mustang stablemates, but it had a trick up its sleeve. Thanks to a range of suspension tweaks, when it came to the corners, the Mach 1 was able to maintain momentum when its siblings might struggle. This car is fitted with the 390CI ‘S-code’ engine. It is mated to the optional four-speed manual box. During the car’s restoration, the suspension was fully overhauled to factory specification and the car fitted with a useful factory-style power steering conversion.
