Originally supplied to Greece, this LHD "bay window" pickup has been extensively restored and upgraded since its importation to the UK. Mechanically, there is much to report including: 2. 3l high-performance engine supplied by AirCooled Hut with Bergman Porsche fan, breathing through Weber throttle bodies, an upgraded gearbox with short-throw gearshift, Fuchs wheels, Fosseway brake set up, Wosp high-torque starter motor, Lite(r) Steering electric power steering, tow bar, Lazer front auxiliary driving lamps and a host of other lighting upgrades including an illuminated VW badge!
Moving inside we find a Propex LPG cabin heater, wood-rimmed steering wheel, Ricky Evans heated front windscreen and a high-quality refit of the interior trim. In the pickup bed, the timber slats have been renewed and the canvas top appears to have very little wear. The sides of the canvas are designed to be lifted up to create an awning. With the dropsides of the pickup lowered, this creates a versatile space that could be fitted out into a surf/ day van style or used as a retail backdrop as per the previous owners. A useful slide-out expedition tray resides in the "treasure chest" locker.
Cosmetically, the van presents very well in dark grey with contrasting canvas, black grilles and bumpers. The doors are just starting to show a little age around the edges. Starting, running and driving well at the time of cataloguing. the VW would benefit from slight fettling by the new owner.
An extensive history file is available with receipts in excess of £30, 000! VW dating and specification sheet, original 1977 brochure, 2022 agreed value insurance certificate of £30, 000, previous MOTs although the VW is exempt from needing a test. V5C and 2 sets of keys in office.
