Body / Exterior:
The car shown here is a January 1952 203 Convertible in its original “Noir” colour (authentic version / Aventure PEUGEOT conformity certificate).
The bodywork of this example was restored a few years ago by a specialist and the chassis received a full fresh repaint in line with the period colour palette.
It is in excellent condition.
After a professional polish carried out with an orbital machine in our workshop, we noted a few superficial defects: very light graveling on the front face, a fine scratch at the top of the right front wing (1 cm), and a small varnish defect on the left front wing with a few paint chips on the left rear wing.
The chrome bumpers are perfectly aligned and in good condition, with some minor rubbing marks. We noted a slight bend on the front bumper and minor dents and a few paint chips.
The chrome decorative trim is complete and in very good condition, with no dents or oxidation.
The plate light shows slight oxidation.
The hood and its faux-leather cover in black are in good condition.
Their installation is easy and the hood’s waterproofing remains in line with period standards.
The 4 original grey steel wheels are in good condition with no impact or deformations. We noted a few paint chips and superficial rust.
The chrome hubcaps are in very good condition.
The MICHELIN X tyres show wear of less than 10% on both front and rear.
This exemplar retains its original spare wheel, jack and hand crank.
NOTE: the indicator arrows, non-functional, have been kept for aesthetic reasons.
Among the noteworthy exterior features on this model we note the black faux-leather hood cover.
Interior:
The interior was restored by a upholsterer a few years ago and presents in very good cosmetic condition.
The Havana-coloured faux-leather upholstery is in excellent condition, with no signs of wear, discolouration or sagging.
We note a small seam defect on the driver's seat cushion (2 cm) and on the backrest return, as well as a shallow scratch on the rear seat.
The Havana-coloured faux-leather rear armrests show a small tear (5 cm).
The matching door panels are in good condition with no sagging or access marks.
The brown dashboard is in very good condition, despite a paint peel on the passenger side glove box.
The original JAEGER onboard instrumentation is fully functional.
The original bakelite steering wheel and gear knob show patina of use with fine cracks.
The beige carpets are in very good condition with no wear or discolouration, though small stains are visible at the front.
Chassis:
Underneath inspection confirms a healthy shell with no visible accident damage or structural corrosion.
Fundamentals: floor pans, sills, lower body and wheel arches are in very good condition.
The front right and left floor pans were restored in 2020 (invoice: €2, 960).
Operational reserve: by principle we cannot guarantee frame alignment beyond their good visual and functional condition validated on road test and when the car was lifted.
During the dynamic test, we noted no abnormal noises from the body or running gear (ball joints, bushings, etc.).
Braking is balanced and in line with the period norms.
The front and rear brake drums are fully functional with no sign of seepage.
A technical inspection prior to delivery will confirm overall function.
Engine / Transmission:
The mechanics run perfectly.
Compressions and road test conducted by our workshop confirm a healthy engine.
Starting is easy, with no smoke or unusual noises and idle is stable, as demonstrated by the 360° video of the engine running available at the start of the slide show.
When driving, the engine revs freely without knocking or overheating.
Cooling has been improved thanks to the addition of an electric cooling fan.
The 4 gears of the original column-shift manual gearbox shift smoothly without hiccups.
Clutch bite is good.
As is common with this model, engine/ gearbox/ axle seals are only average.
