What’s fascinating is the 320is Coupé was actually lighter than the M3, and because it had a shorter-stroke crank, many journalists said it revved sweeter and felt more eager than the 2. 3 M3. Despite having only around 8 hp less, it managed virtually the same 0–100 time, which is incredible.
Most 320is Coupés came with the M-Tech 2 body kit, but there were a few understated ones without the body kit, which almost looked like a normal E30 — a proper wolf in sheep’s clothing. Many enthusiasts actually call it the “Italian M3” and some reckon it’s even more special because of how rare and understated it is.
