The Porsche 993 was the last 911 to feature an air-cooled six-cylinder boxer engine. The 2+2-seater sports car was launched in the 1994 model year and remained in production until 1998. Today, it is a very popular classic sports car, particularly as it was the last ‘true’ Porsche built according to the original concept with an air-cooled engine. Furthermore, it is a very well-built car that offers great driving pleasure.
This particular example – a rare Carrera 4 Cabriolet with a six-speed manual gearbox – was delivered new on 18 March 1996 to its first owner via Porsche Zentrum München. This 911 was ordered in the stunning colour combination of Irisblau Metallic with a grey leather interior and a blue soft top. The car also featured a fully electrically operated soft top, heated front seats, air conditioning and stunning 18-inch Turbo alloy wheels. In 1999, the car was sold to its second owner in Sweden with a mileage of 61, 893 km. The Porsche remained in Swedish ownership until the end of 2015 and was always serviced by Porsche dealers. All booklets are still present, and the service booklet shows a complete service history. The car still retains most of its original paintwork; only the front end was repainted at some point, presumably to repair stone-chip damage as this 911 is 100 per cent accident-free. Given the relatively low mileage, this Porsche feels like a car that is only a few years old, with no rattles whatsoever and all functions in fully working order. What’s more, this is a highly sought-after Carrera 4 model with a manual gearbox, and being a late-production 993 model it is also fitted with the more powerful VarioRam engine.
Prices for good-quality Porsche 993s are currently rising very rapidly, and it is probably one of the fastest-appreciating classic cars at the moment. This magnificent example therefore presents a great opportunity to acquire a perfect 993, as it boasts an excellent colour scheme, specification and condition.
