It is with regret that I am thinking of selling my beetle. I am using it less and less these days, (only 156 miles between MOT's for the last two years)and I want it to go to someone who will enjoy it and look after it as I have.
The car is very well known in Historic VW circles, and has won many concours prizes over the ten years that I have owned it. The car is concours, and wants for absolutely nothing.
For those of you who don't know, the car is a South African beetle imported and registered in the UK by me in 2002. It is the last of the 30hp Semaphore indicator beetles, having been manufactured in Germany in May 1960, and exported as a CKD kit. Sold new in September 1960, (original bill of sale held)it lived all of its South African life in Johannesburg, and only had two lady owners in 42 years. The car has never been welded, and has only done 58, 000 miles from new. Matching numbers, and original interior, including the original rubber matting. I have had the car resprayed to concours standard due to paint fade in 2006. Apart from that, I have merely sympathetically brought the car up to a higher concours standard to preserve originality over the years. Everything works, and still 6 volt electrics. All I have added is an original rebuilt Blaupunkt radio, and a chinese repro Hazet toolkit (quite rare nowadays)
A superb car for the connoisseur. Has been kept in a carpeted dehumidified garage all of my ownership, and has seldom got wet over the years.
