Beautifully restored and very rare 1953 Jowett Jupiter Mk1 for sale. Jupiters were the most successful British competition production sportscars in the early 50's. Winning their class at Le Mans in 1950/ 51 and 52. Winning at the Monte Carlo rally in 1951 , 2nd in 52 and 4th in 53. Winning the RAC TT International race in Dunrod Ireland in 1951. Winning the Swiss National race at Bremgarten in 51 and at Watkins Glen (USA) in 51 also at the International Empire trophy in the Isle of Man in 1952. Many other wins were recorded in race, rally and hillclimb events.
A lightweight alloy body combined with a superb race born chassis designed by Dr Robert Eberan-Eberhurst ex Auto Union , along with the four cylinder, 1486cc Jowett horizontaly opposed engine with a column gearchange became legendary for winning time and time again high speed events with reliability. W ould consider a part exchange either up or down.
A rare car combined with the very succesful competition history gives an extremely inexpensive entry into International competitions. My car draws attention everywhere shown. Superb club support and easy available inexpensive parts. Unleaded cylinder heads adapted along with all acceptable mods during the four year body off restoration. Car can be viewed near Bristol.
