Here offered for possible sale is a 1978 Datsun 200L, a completely unique opportunity.
I was lucky enough to be able to purchase this 1 owner car from the late owners widow and it had been garaged since 1997
The important bits
1 OWNER FROM NEW (complete old style v5 with number of former keepers NONE, from the address it was collected from)
16112 Miles from new. THIS IS COMPLETELY CORRECT AND BACKED UP BY ALL MOTS.
DVLA systems show only 1 200L from this model style, over all years, and thats on SORN, This is NOT on the system so this really is 1 of 2 in the UK.
Factory order sheet with shown option of Undersealing!!! hence the reason the car is here today!
Gold in colour with factory alloy wheels and beige interior.
very early in its life it had a respray due to be being scratched and it is a typical 1980 respray, ie you can tell its been painted. it is NOT a faked up resprayed car it is an original genuine unmolested car.
After very careful works the car is now running and driving, clutch and brake systems now working well after its long hibernation.
Condition wise the interior is as close to new as is possible, it really is, with over mats and correct period tape player installed etc, the fabrics are completely unworn or discoloured in any way (it has been garaged ALL its life).
The body is remarkable considering, yes its had an early respray, not hiding that but bar some very minor cosmetic corrosion on the lower area of the front doors (the doors and bottoms are perfect) there is a small hole in the chrome on the rear bumper (easy to repair and re chrome) there really is nothing else or any concern, the car is very straight and genuine, waxoil evident from the door bottoms and sills, again totally original, boot floor well perfect is the only word for it, under the bonnet waxoiled lower inner wings etc NO signs of any rust here, even the air filter cover is almost perfect in its factory blue paint. The wheels to be fair need refurbing.
I really want to keep this and would be very interested in a long term loan to a museum or similar, Nissan have been approached but are uninterested at this stage (the car would be restored for the above options)
I will consider serious offers for this car. It could be bought "as is" or brought up to MOT standards, serviced front to back and the cosmetics done, depending on price
Please do not waste my time or yours with silly low offers, "hundreds" are not buying this car. I may consider a p/ x old or newer as long as it is sensibly priced.
I know its not the most desired of classic cars BUT it is unique in its rarity and background. Japanese classic cars are on the up greatly and will only continue to go upwards. If it was a Toyota Crown with this story it would be 10K and this is much rarer but I am sensible.
