This Magnum Coupe was ordered NEW in February 1975 by Mr. RLS Tong in Bristol, UK. The Vauxhall factory order number is 881546 and shows a price tag of £1406. 55, to include extras such as Laminated Screen etc. A Certificate of origin dated 08th. May 1975 and Bill of Lading 25th. April 1975 from Arya Shipping & Air France covering the exportation of the new Magnum to Kuwait via Iran are present with Kuwait Reg. no 213874 showing. The Vauxhall factory at Luton provided payment receipt dated 23rd. March 1975 and transport insurance cover from factory to delivery dockside in Kuwait. Mr. Tong, who was a member of the British Council in Kuwait later returned to the UK as did the Magnum in 1978 and he had the car re-registered in the UK as THU105S (supporting documentation on file).
On file are 16 MOT's up to 2009 when the Magnum was exported to me in Ireland and then registered with classic plate number ZV 34020. Please note , vehicles prior to Jan 1980 are MOT/ NCT exempt in Ireland.
The very reputable weekly paper Classic Car Weekly featured the Magnum on 19th. February 2009 in it's "Chasing Cars" section where the journalist/ tester stated "Immaculate inside & out, drives like its fresh out of the box". The negative review point stated "very little of any consequence" wrong. KLMS showing at test date 45412 (28155 miles). Bottom line summary comment "We'd choose this over a Capri anyday". During my ownership since 2009, I have covered roughly 2500 miles max. The car has always been dry stored in a proper ventilated garage. Last used in 2012, but regularly started and now needs a new exhaust silencer and a check over. Prior to 2012 storage, oil & filter (20/ 50) were changed, new plugs , leads and carb fitted , plus 4 new branded tyres and clutch replaced. Car is starting and driving but will need exhast attention and a check over in view of its time in storage and lack of use.
All registration documentation is in order and car is currently on SORN.
Overall, in my opinion, I would describe the Magnum as being in "time warp" condition with excellent & original bodywork. Interior is likewise. No modifications whatsoever. I would classify the Magnum as being in better condition now than when tested by CCW in 2009. The attached pictures were taken last week after removing the car from storage when it was washed only.
