1972 tax free VW Dormobile camper in 2 tone sky blue and white. This model was produced for one year and was known as the crossover with features from the early bay and later bay features like the taller rear light lenses. It also benefits from front disc brakes. It has had reconditioned vege 1641 cc engine with new carburettor, electronic ignition, new starter motor, alternator, rear drums, rear shoes, brake adjusters, alloy rocker covers, etc. Points requiring attention are both sills which need cutting out and replacing, play in steering box, underside welding, welding to guttering and roof on n/ s rear, work to the rear nearside wheelarch and general areas of tidying which are very common for a van of this age. Easy and fairly cheap to get body panels and spares from companies like VW Heritage, Just Kampers, etc. Also the front bumper is fibreglass as the crossover bumpers are fairly hard to come by. Tt's competitively priced for a rhd tax free dormobile and with the work done will be an appreciating asset. Look at the price of fully restored rhd vans and the price of a new Danbury one to compare! We used it daily as our only transport and it starts and runs well at the moment. It has the original pop up roof which looks lovely with two bunks and a rock n roll double bed below. It has the original two rear facing buddy seats which lift out if you want more room and the bench seat at the back has two lapbelts. The original table is detachable and there's a sink with electric pump and large coolbox which is an original Dormobile feature. The original cooker folds out from behind the front passenger seat and there are 3 lights fitted which work off the battery. I'd rather people came to view in person rather than rely on pictures and descriptions. Quite happy to keep if it doesn't sell and get the work done at a later date as I do love the van and it's much admired and very practical for moving large objects and parking up on the beach for picnics. UPDATE. PRICE NOW REDUCED DUE TO FAILING MOT ON SILLS AND WELDING REQUIRED TO UNDERSIDE. QUITE A BIT NEEDED BUT SHOULDN'T PHASE ANY EXPERIENCED VW ENTHUSIAST. BOTH SILLS NEED CUTTING OUT AND DOING AND THERE'S WORK NEEDED TO SUBFRAME MOUNTING WHICH HAS CORROSION AND SEATBELT ANCHORAGE AREA. ONCE RESTORED, SHOULD EASILY BE WORTH IN EXCESS OF £15, 000.
