Reluctantly I've decided that the time has come to sell my tribute to the Sei Giorni (Six Day) Racer. It doesn't get ridden anywhere near as much as it should and other stupid ideas for new projects beckon. The scoot is a complete bitsa so any "originality at all costs" die-hards should look away now. The frame is French. The P2 engine cases are Iranian (no I didn't know that they made P200s in Iran either). The engine internals are all Italian including a long stroke crank and was built by Al "Diablo" Terry. The exhaust is a SIP2 Road. The front forks are from a PK XL, the disc is a ScootRS item. The panels are cut down SIP GS ones. The tank and headlight were handmade by a retired engineer (Roy Hopper) who also ensured that all of the different bits actually fitted together properly. The electrics are all 12V DC.

Its been totally reliable and as you can see from the pictures. it took me and a ludicrous amount of luggage all of the way to Pontedera and back. While at the museum I was lucky enough to meet Giuseppe Cau, one of the original 6-day riders (also pictured).

It was featured in this year's Scooters calendar and the October 2013 issue of Scootering. Those of you that have read the Scootering article will know that I had the frame stripped to bare metal and that it has had several repairs over the last 60 years. Some were done very well (Like the new floor) and some looked a bit crude. However, the whole thing was checked over by Roy and declared structurally sound if not particularly pretty! The paint job is great for the most part but there are a couple of places where the filler could have been better applied to smooth the repair sections.

So there you have it. I've tried to be as honest as possible. The scoot has been ridden not hidden and has picked up a few war wounds over the years but should give many years service to whoever buys it. Its registered with the DVLA and taxed.

These wide-body Vespas have become increasingly expensive recently and so I'm asking £5200 for it. That's a firm price because quite honestly if no one offers me the money I'll be secretly relieved. Scooter is in Maidstone, Kent.
