We are offering a rare opportunity to buy a legendary Lagonda Rapier, registration WS 2047, much loved but sadly recently neglected car owned by by my Dad since 1963, for restoration.
The engine and gear box are intact. The engine seems by inspection to be in reasonable condition but requires a fibre camshaft gear to be replaced (we have the spare part and this is not a difficult job according to my Dad who has replaced it before.)
The pre-selector gear change friction pads have been replaced.
The wheels, tyres and breaks are in reasonable order and the car is easily manoeuvrable although one break cable-rod needs replacing. The exhaust is in good condition, this is stainless steel and made specially, although the bracket to the car needs repair.
The instrument panel is complete, the temp guage needs repair.
The body was modified by a prevous owner and registered on the Rapier Register as "Ewing".
The seats and interior have deteriorated and will probably need replacing.
Included are: the original log book dated Nov 1936, two sets of spair whees (front and back are different sizes) and new spare tyre and inner tube. Spare cylinder head and camshaft gear (mentioned above). Detailed documentation of the pre-selector gearbox.
