I have too many cars and not enough storage. Combine this with another car I've bought means that my small collection needs to get a bit smaller.
I looked for a long time specifically to find the earliest of the new BMW MINI's I could find. This one I'm selling is vin number 00092 so one of the first 100 manufactured.
Furthermore it was registered by BMW themselves on 23/ 05/ 2001 as a "Dealer Presentation" car before the official public launch in July 2001. The actual production date was 25/ 04/ 2001.
The registration letters 'OBL' are shared with the earliest BMW registered cars and several launch magazine articles from 2001 feature sister 'OBL' cars.
I've tried to show the body condition in my photos but it is 16 years old so isn't perfect.
Interior is nice, quite rare in red I'm told, and should respond well to a thorough valet. They are very early seats showing the recessed centre line common to the earliest cars.
Faults? Again , as it's 16 years old, it does rattle a bit but no more than other similar aged MINI's I've driven.
It has the factory stability control package (ASC+T).
17" wheels are fitted with all four tyres recently replaced and there is 7mm of tread remaining.
Exhaust is noisy and needs weld repair to the back box. Drivers window needs a new cable which I have ready to go in.
There is a service book (with first stamp the BMW MINI distribution centre) and recent receipts from the last couple of years.
Previous owner had the car for 7 years. I checked the vehicles history re damage/ insurance write-off/ finance prior to purchase and it was clear.
The last MOT expired in August 2017 and it is currently on a SORN.
Serious buyers are welcome to come and view in Lancashire, 12 miles south of Preston, so handy for the M6.

The OBL registered MINI's are becoming much sought after and if I had the space I would keep it as an investment (have you seen this months Practical Classics magazine wherein they recommend the early R50 MINI's as future classics?).
