Description
This is 1980 Moto Guzzi V50 Mk2, and was built in 1980. It has had six previous owners, and has covered just 33, 000 miles in 37 years. It is in remarkably original and unrestored condition, and the only deviation from standard is that it wears Lafranconi silncers, which were a common period addition, and are rare in themselves. The bike has a patina that includes some surface rust here and there on the frame and rear mudguard, but for its age, the seat, paint, original pinstriping are in very good condition. Ride as is or restore, but why would you restore it?
The bike has a new MOT, passed this week, requiring just a new rear Avon Roadrider tyre. The last MOT was in 2005, as its owner preferred to ride his modern Guzzi. I bought the bike in June, and its owner had already got it running again. All I have done is changed all the oils including oil filter, fitted a new indicator relay and cleaned up some of the electrical contacts. I haven't washed it or really cleaned it, so no doubt it could provide hours of polishing fun for someone. The Brembo caliper pistons and seals are like new as the previous owner had not long replaced them. The V50 does everything as it should, starts, stops, and runs very nicely, and sounds like a Guzzi should through the Lafranconis. Its light, handles well. It's a nice, honest, original V50, and there can't be many unrestored ones left now. Bike is currently on a SORN. The V5 is in my name, and there are about 10 past MOT certificates, dating back to around 2005 that document the mileage. I've owned Guzzis for 30 years but have no space left!
