1940 PONTIAC SILVER STREAK WOODIE $64, 995. 00 These are rare, you seldom see a Pontiac Woodie.
- The most recent owner thought there was as few as 12-left in the world. If that is true, then this is very rare considering only you and 11 other people can own one. We haven’t been able to prove this number to be right or wrong so verify yourself if it’s important to you. This is not a restored car but one that is an original looking example that has obviously had work done over the years including a repaint.
- The wood is in the same condition, tidy but not new. A car you can really enjoy without the paranoia of a fresh restoration.
- The most recent owner had the engine rebuilt about 5 years ago but claims only about 100 miles have been driven on it as he drove it in the Malibu (California) Woodie parade once a year.
- The mileage indicated is 70, 000 but it is stuck at that, so we really don’t know the true mileage of this 78-year-old car but really, who cares, it is what it is.
- The original 6-volt system is still in place with an optima battery.
- The body on this Pontiac is made by Hercules with the Hercules body plate still mounted as it came from the factory, on the front passenger door.
- It has the side mount spare tyre with cover mounted in the right front fender and apparently 1940 was the last year Pontiac offered this.
- The engine is the L head flat 6-cylinder (#) coupled to a 3-speed manual gearbox. The cowl tag identifies as: Style no. ~ Station Wagon. Body no> ~. Trim and Paint no. ~ both 1. Pride of ownership is evident as it still shows well. Finished in an Opalescent Blue (possibly St Clair blue) with Tan interior and Black top.
