The first owner bought the Land Rover as a standard 6- cylinder 2a Station Wagon in 1970. He took it to Searle's a year later for conversion into a Carawagon. He and his family used it for decades until it was laid up for about 7 years, until I purchased it in 2016. It needed some light recommissioning on the inner sills at the rear and at the seatbelt mounting points. Otherwise only new tyres, battery and a service were required. It has been very reliable, and enjoyed by my family. However my children have now grown up and my son has a Land Rover of his own, so I'm not using it enough to justify keeping it.
It attracts a lot of positive attention when travelling, and the six cylinder engine sounds great. It cruises comfortably around 50 mph and returns a regular 22 mpg. All gears, low and high ratios are fully working as is the overdrive.
