An absolutely stunning car having just received a very comprehensive re-commissioning in Corvette Kingdoms workshops including new brakes throughout, new tyres, fully serviced including diff and transmission fluids, and ready to roll.
The same owner for over 40 years, this is an absolutely superb machine. Extensively cosmetically restored in the 1990's, then a full body off carried out by Corvette Kingdom in 2008/ 9 which included a full strip down of all mechanical components, new fuel and brake lines, wheel bearings, all suspension bushes etc etc
At that time a full engine rebuild was undertaken which included the installation of Edelbrock aluminium heads, Edelbrock Performer intake and a Holley 600. The original manual transmission was rebuilt at that time also.
1969 is amongst my favourite year Corvettes, still retains the more delicate fender and grille treatments without a lot of the finicky parts on a 68 and without the more brash fender flares and grilles of the 70 onward cars. GM got everything right in 69!
Externally this car is lovely, although painted around 40 years ago the body and paint are still very good with only very minor blemishes. Door, headlight, and hood gaps are excellent. All chrome is in tip top condition with the rear bumpers recently re-chromed, all light lenses, rear license plate surround, emblems are superb. Weatherstripping and soft top is excellent
The interior is very nice indeed, it is not brand new and has a nice feel to it. The leather seat covers are in very good condition and the seats are comfy, carpets and door panels are very good. The dash is original and very nice. Includes the rare and super desirable tilt tele column, factory steering wheel, modern 3 point seat belts, the interior is just lovely - and that colour!!
Manual windows work as they should. The doors have recently been stripped and window regulators and runners have been cleaned and re-greased, along with door latches and new external handles installed. All gauges work including the clock, gauges are excellent with some new replacements. A Corvette branded radio cassette is installed.
The engine bay is very nice throughout, and the 350 cubic inch 350 hp motor starts easily and runs strong, very original with ignition shielding present, fan and shroud all in place, correct air cleaner assembly, correct aluminium valve covers, the engine was rebuilt at the time of the body off and also fitted with Edelbrock Performer aluminium heads, Edelbrock Performer intake and a Holley 4 barrel carb. This car runs strong!
Factory cast iron exhaust manifolds hook up to a factory side exhaust system, this Corvette sounds how you want a Corvette to sound, not obtrusive at cruising speed but loud enough when you get on it. The original 4 speed transmission has been rebuilt and shifts easily, the clutch is nice and light. It's a very easy car to drive with power steering and power brakes. The transmission is a wide ratio unit and you can leave it in 1st gear in town and she will get you to 40mph without changing!
All four brake calipers have been renewed with stainless steel sleeved lip seal units, new semi metallic pads front and rear, all new hoses, and a new master cylinder. The brake lines were renewed at the time of the body off restoration along with fuel lines. Underneath the car is excellent, the chassis is rust free, trailing arms have been rebuilt with new wheel bearings, rear spring, shocks, strut rods, all bushes front and rear, this car needs nothing.
New BF Goodrich 215/ 70x15 tyres are fitted all round to original 8" Ralley rims, centre caps are excellent, as are the stainless steel trim rings, the tyres are the best size you can fit to a C3 and really make these cars handle. A new Bosch battery, is installed. This is my personal car and as always my goal with this is to make this as trouble free an experience as a 57 year old car can be...
I think you will be hard pressed to find a Corvette for sale today that is better than this car, it is hard enough to find a chrome bumper C3 in this nice condition as it is, let alone one that has just had just shy of £15, 000 spent recommissioning. This 69 roadster looks wonderful, drives really really nicely, sounds great, has never been shown in the UK, and is absolutely ready to go.
