Description

1969 Jensen FF MkI – Chassis 119/ 103

Offered for sale is a remarkably original 1969 Jensen FF MkI, chassis 119/ 103, registration VUK 242G, now a running and rolling project following an extensive mechanical recommissioning after more than three decades in storage.

My intention has not been to restore the car, but to preserve as much of its originality as possible while carrying out the work necessary to bring it back to life.

Since acquiring the Jensen, I have spent approximately £9, 000 on parts alone, excluding my time and labour.

The work undertaken includes:

Starting, ignition and electrical
New battery, ignition switch, ignition relay, starter solenoid, starter motor, ignition leads, coil, rotor arm, distributor cap, points and condenser, and spark plugs.

Brakes and tyres
New tyres, brake pipes, braided hoses and brake pads. Four-pot front calipers have been fitted and the rear calipers reconditioned, together with a Jaguar servo and master cylinder.

Engine and fuel system
The cylinder heads have been rebuilt and an Edelbrock carburettor fitted, together with a new accelerator cable. New air and oil filters, fresh engine oil and replacement oil hoses have also been fitted.

Cooling system
New radiator hoses, heater hoses, thermostat and fan belt, together with fresh coolant.

Transmission and four-wheel-drive system
Front and rear differential oils changed, automatic gearbox oil and filter changed, and centre differential oil changed.

Importantly, all of the original parts removed during the recommissioning have been retained and will be supplied with the car.

The original interior has cleaned up remarkably well and now presents as a lovely, honest original cabin.

Rather than retrimming the car, the original interior has deliberately been retained, preserving the character and patina it has acquired over more than half a century.

A new interior and boot carpet set has been fitted.

The main body of the car is in very good condition, particularly considering its age and the fact that it spent more than 30 years in storage.

The principal bodywork still required is:

Front valance
Rear valance
Replacement door skins

The majority of the chrome remains in good condition. The front and rear bumpers require rechroming, together with the rocker covers.

The tachometer and ammeter also require replacement.

The car is therefore being sold honestly as a running and rolling project. A substantial amount of the mechanical recommissioning has already been completed, while leaving the next owner to decide whether to complete a sympathetic preservation or undertake a full cosmetic restoration.

For me, one of the most important aspects of 119/ 103 is its originality.

Chassis 119/ 103 has an unusually complete and fascinating history.

The car came to public attention when it was offered by Iconic Auctioneers at Race Retro in February 2026, having emerged after more than three decades in storage.

It had remained within the same family from new and had not turned a wheel since the early 1990s.

The car is accompanied by an exceptional history file containing the original sales documentation and invoices from new.

This is particularly important because numerous original invoices record the mileage at the time, allowing the car's mileage to be supported by contemporary documentation rather than simply being described as “believed genuine”.

The documented mileage includes:

7 March 1969 — 0 miles
16 May 1969 — 1, 372 miles — Jensen Motors
16 July 1969 — 11, 500 miles — Jensen Motors
23 July 1970 — 12, 046 miles — Jensen Motors
22 January 1973 — 28, 638 miles — Jensen Motors
13 July 1973 — 30, 598 miles — W. T. Aked & Co
27 August 1974 — 32, 804 miles — W. T. Aked & Co
5 August 1975 — 37, 742 miles — Jensen Motors
6 January 1976 — 40, 914 miles — Jensen Motors
12 January 1978 — 46, 947 miles — Jensen Motors
28 September 1979 — 48, 545 miles — Jensen Motors
21 April 1986 — 65, 292 miles — Jensen Cars Ltd
22 October 1986 — 66, 203 miles — Jensen Cars Ltd

These represent only some of the invoices and documents within the history file.

The quantity of original Jensen documentation accompanying 119/ 103 is a significant part of the car's appeal. Its history, mileage and long period in storage can be followed through original contemporary records rather than reconstructed decades later.

The car has had one long-term family ownership from new and, subject to the DVLA's registration requirements, its next custodian has the unusual opportunity of potentially becoming its second registered owner.

The FF was one of the most technically advanced road cars of its generation, combining Chrysler V8 power with the Ferguson Formula four-wheel-drive system and Dunlop Maxaret anti-lock braking technology. Only 195 MkI FFs were produced.

Chassis 119/ 103 therefore combines the rarity of an early FF with something increasingly difficult to find: exceptional provenance, documented mileage, a remarkably original interior and a car that has not previously been subjected to a wholesale restoration.

It is now running and rolling following substantial recommissioning, but remains sufficiently original for its next owner to determine its future.
