Description
Collectors and investors should keep the following in mind: When it comes to cobras (replicas), the conformity of the French vehicle registration document with what the vehicle in question actually is (manufacturer, year, model, engine) is essential in order to secure your purchase. French legislation (FFVE) is very strict when it comes to replicas: in order to receive a French vehicle registration document (Collection), a replica must be more than 30 years old (date of manufacture), must no longer be in production, and must be in its original condition. By applying this rule imposed since 2014 by the French government and the FFVE, very few replicas are admissible in France. An informed buyer will therefore have to ask himself questions about the true legality of cobras with 1965 or 1966 .. 67 registration documents (unless this cobra costs 2 million and is therefore a genuine original Shelby cobra). Similarly, if a cobra from a modern replica brand that began production in 1995 or 2000 is for sale with a registration dated 1982 or 1986 .... these cobra replicas should be avoided because their registrations are fraudulent. Generally speaking, cobra replicas with a normal vehicle registration document are to be avoided because 99% of replicas do not have a European or French certificate of conformity (except for forgeries) .... and must therefore be the subject of an "Réception Titre Isolé" (RTI) with the French mines department (UTAC & DREAL) ..... In 99% of cases, these departments do not issue such certificates for cobras. This is why it is almost certain that a cobra with a normal vehicle registration document has fraudulent "Bidon" papers. The French government has recently launched an anti-fraud campaign against bogus registration documents. There are currently a number of cancellations of vehicle registration documents and heavy sentences being handed down. The Cobra we're offering here is a genuine collector's vehicle that will be sold with its FFVE collector's certificate and French roadworthiness test. This 1990 Cobra was produced by the great American manufacturer CONTEMPORARY CLASSIC (now defunct). Built to be as faithful as possible to the real Shelby Cobras (4" round tube ladder chassis, Jaguar E-Type running gear and differential, etc.), our car is finished in Semi Competition style, with all the same appendages: pilot roll bar, side pipes and air intake on the bonnet. As for the engine, it conforms to what Carroll Shelby delivered in 65-66 on his Cobra 427 BigBlock, i. e. the Ford FE series 7-litre V8 (428ci). Note also that this Cobra 427SC has the very rare mechanical 5-speed gearbox option ... very rare because on the contemporary models that were intended to copy the real shelbys to the millimetre, few customers ticked the 5-speed gearbox box (even though it was available in the Contemporary Classic catalogue). In fact, 95% of Contemporary Classic BigBlock cars were confined to the "Correct Period" and remained firmly rooted in vintage with the classic Ford 4-speed "Top Loader" gearbox. For collectors who are resistant to the very racing look of the Minilite rims fitted to our example, we can put you in touch with a Hallibrand custom wheel cutter (budget 1, 400 euros for 4).
