Description
Model History: Jaguar introduced the XK140 on 15 October 1954. The successor to the XK 120, this new Jaguar resembled it, but there were some important differences: firstly, the rack-and-pinion steering, which made the car lighter and more precise on the road. Secondly, the more comfortable driving position is due to the repositioning of the engine (8cm forward), the steering (column with two universal joints) and the battery compartment (placed in the front wing), not forgetting a slightly wider passenger compartment and 2 small rear seats.
Mechanically, the new Jaguar XK 140 is powered by the same 190bhp engine as the XK 120 'Special Equipment', and for the sports range, the 'Type-C' cylinder head boosts the engine to 210bhp. Unlike the XK 120, Jaguar produced all 3 models - Roadster, Cabriolet and Coupé - at the same time. Only 3, 347 units of the XK 140 roadster were produced, making it one of the most elegant and sporty models of its generation, with a 0-100 km time of 8. 5 seconds.
