It never raced. When the Ford Thunderbird took to the road for the first time in 1955, it wasn't looking to break records on the racetrack. No, its ambition was quite different: to embody luxury, comfort and the art of travelling in style. Coupé or cabriolet, it immediately established itself as an icon of the road, built more for cruising than racing. Eleven generations later, from 1955 to 2005, the Thunderbird has become a legend of the American automobile. Its instantly recognisable silhouette and timeless charm have earned it a place in numerous films and TV series, including the legendary Thelma & Louise. But the one we're talking about here has a history all its own. This rare example is of French origin. It crossed the Mediterranean to Algeria at the end of 1957. Five years later, in 1962, it returned to French soil. And then began a long sleep: stored, covered up, protected from light and time for 45 years. In 2007, it woke up. An initial restoration brought it back to life, respecting its authenticity. Then in 2025, a second restoration brought it back to its former glory: today, this Thunderbird is in concours condition, and yet it has covered just 48, 000 km since its birth. Under its bonnet, the legendary 312 cubic inch (5. 1 L) Ford V8, combined with a 4-barrel carburettor and a 3-speed manual gearbox with overdrive. Inside, you'll find all the comforts of the era, including an adjustable steering wheel, electric windows and electric seats. The icing on the cake: a new soft top, freshly ordered, will be fitted in September. This isn't just a car. It's a piece of history, an object of passion, an invitation to elegance.
