Description
This rare 1600 version of the Junior Zagato was imported from Italy, where it remained until reaching Belgium, by a well-known specialist. The car had an ASI gold badge showing its originality. Somewhere, it was repainted Bianco Spine as it originally was. The engine is the right type for the 1600 Junior Zagato!
In 2015, our client purchased this beautiful example and had it meticulously inspected and maintained by a long-time Alfa aficionado and engineer. He was astonished by the exceptional state of preservation of the underside, whereas most cars have rust problems. The car was subsequently registered in the Netherlands and used for a wonderful trip to Italy.
More recently, the car has been overhauled with stiffer springs and yellow Koni dampers installed. The interior is very original and nicely preserved, with Zagato carpets and a black vinyl interior. The car is a joy to drive with a powerful engine and an excellent gearbox.
The price is €69, 500.

Model history
The Alfa Romeo 1600 Junior Zagato is a two-seat lightweight coupé based on the Giulia platform and designed by Zagato. Produced between 1972 and 1975 in limited numbers (only 402 examples), it is one of the rare production Alfa Romeos of its era.
It is powered by the proven 1. 6-litre inline-four Alfa engine with twin carburettors, developing around 109 bhp and paired with a five-speed manual transmission. The car features independent front suspension, rear-wheel drive and disc brakes. Zagato gave the Junior a distinctive, functional look focused on aerodynamics. The design, by Ercole Spada, features a low nose, a very sculpted rear (Kamm tail) and lightweight aluminium panels combined with steel. Compared with other Alfa GTs of the era, the Zagato stands out for its minimalism, compact dimensions and attention to weight reduction.
The 1600 model brought subtle improvements to design and interior over the 1300 version, as well as enhanced performance. It is a rare and interesting alternative to the more common Bertone-bodied Alfa coupes, offering the same mechanical charm with a unique styling and a lower production number.
