The lines of this English sports car are impressive. As the successor to the Jaguar XK120, the elegant Jaguar XK140 was launched in 1954. Fortunately, despite a few minor modifications, its design has remained almost unchanged. This superb Jaguar XK140, produced in 1956, stands out in several respects. Not only for its exceptional and sublime condition, but also for its elegant and striking combination of colours, Regency Red, and its beige leather interior. This 1956 Jaguar XK140 was originally delivered to the United States in Old English White. In 1996, the car arrived in the Netherlands where it was fully restored. This professional, body-off restoration was carried out brilliantly by Altena Classic Service (complete invoices available). The engine block and the automatic transmission have been completely overhauled. The car was also equipped with power steering. It was also repainted in the striking Regency Red. The interior features a perfectly matched beige. In the following years, the car has been meticulously cared for and lovingly maintained by Kolvenbach, Jaguar specialist. Thanks to this, this elegant Jaguar XK140 remains in exceptional condition.
The bodywork is in excellent condition and the elegant Regency Red paint still exhibits a deep, rich shine. The chrome and fittings are in excellent condition, as are the rubbers and finishes. The fully chrome-spoked wheels are not only superb and elegant but also in excellent condition. The elegant front headlights are also in perfect condition. The body panels are well aligned and the doors open and close smoothly and safely. The beige canvas soft top, perfectly matched, is also in excellent condition (nearly new).
The interior is also in exceptional condition. This applies not only to the elegant veneers and the wooden dashboard, but also to the various chromes and fittings. The beige leather seats are in perfect condition and exceptionally comfortable. The beige carpeting and beige door panels complete the look perfectly. The magnificent original bakelite large steering wheel is a real treat for the eyes and offers excellent grip. It is clear that this Jaguar XK140 has been cared for with a lot of love and care.
Under the hood lies a true engine jewel. The 3. 4-litre inline six is not only beautiful to look at, but also sufficiently powerful with 190 hp and runs marvelously quietly and smoothly. This Jaguar XK140 offers exceptional comfort and driving suppleness, largely thanks to the automatic transmission and power steering. The brakes are solid and firm, and the automatic gearbox shifts gears with exceptional fluidity. For optimum operational reliability, an additional cooling fan has been installed and the car is equipped with electronic ignition. Result: an exceptional driving car, in perfect condition!
